First meeting in the school hall.

We met last thursday for the first time since before Christmas and there were very few of us because there was a funeral in the village. Here in France almost everyone goes to the funeral to pay their respects. This time the huge church was full and people were standing outside holding their flowers and plants in the cold wet weather for nearly two hours. So we were just 7 in all,but it was a joy, everyone full of enthusiasm. The lady with the long blonde hair had come along to show her patchwork quilts and see if anyone would like to learn how to do one. She was pleased to find two maybe three will work with her at the next meeting. I worked with the others who want to eventually make cloth dolls. We began with making tiny faces for fabric cards and thenI finishing off with more fabric and lace. Most people brought a simple sewing maching but with a zig-zag and a straight stitch I showed them you can do quite alot.

I have done very little other wise this week except write in my journal  and try out some moresamples from Maggie Grey's  book.

  1. At last the comments page is showing up again for me. Like what you are doing with the journal pages. They are very colourful. I am glad your first group meeting was a success.

  2. It is exciting to hear that some venturous folk are taking the step towards making cloth dolls. How great this is. My sewing machine doesn't even have zig-zag~just straight ahead and reverse straight back. But it holds the tension so good and is so sturdy I am happy with it. *smiles* Norma
